ScrambleWatch Smackdown: Clean Elex Debates

Mark your calendars: The Clean Elections Commission has announced the upcoming dates for the primary election debates!

Up first in Southern Arizona is the GOP battle everyone will be watching: Al Melvin vs. Pete Hershberger in Legislative District 26. The forum will also feature GOP House candidates Trent Humphries, Vic Williams and Marilyn Zerull. The bell goes off at 6 p.m. July 2 at Nanini Branch Tucson Library, 7300 N. Shannon Road.

Democrat John Kromko will make his case against incumbents Phil Lopes and Olivia Cajero Bedford in LD27 at 6 p.m. July 10 at the Pima Community College District Office, 4905 E Broadway.

The Democratic candidates in the LD29 seven-way super-slam will thrash it out at 6 p.m. July 17 at the PCC District Office, 4905 E Broadway.

And finally, the four GOP candidates running for two House seats in LD30–Sharon Collins, Frank Antenori, Doug Sposito and David Gowan–are scheduled to duel it out at 6 p.m. July 24 at the PCC District Office, 4905 E Broadway. At a debate two years ago, Gowan accused Rep. Marian McClure of being “pro-sodomy,” so that’s one to watch for sure!

Here’s a full list of upcoming debates.
