Endorsement Round-Up

A few recent endorsements from around the campaign trail:

• The national League of Conservation Voters announced they were endorsing Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, who is facing Republican state Sen. Tim Bee in Congressional District 8.

LCV Deputy Legislative Director Tim Greeff cited Giffords’ support of legislation regarding clean air, clean water and solar energy, as well as her 100 percent lifetime score from the Arizona League of Conservation Voters while a state lawmaker from 2001 to 2005.

• Pima County Supervisor Sharon Bronson, who is facing a primary challenge from Donna Branch-Gilby in District 3, has been endorsed by Gov. Janet Napolitano.

Napolitano’s statement: “Sharon has been working hard for Pima County and has served with distinction for the past 12 years. She is a dedicated and effective public servant who has succeeded in improving the quality of life for residents across the county. It is my honor to endorse Sharon Bronson’s campaign for re-election.”

Over in the Legislative District 29 Democratic seven-way super-slam:

• Daniel Patterson announced he’d been endorsed by the UA Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 469.

• Ephraim Cruz announced he’d been endorsed by Clarence Boykins, the former president of both Arizona’s statewide and Tucson’s local chapters of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). Boykins, who lost a 2006 House bid in LD30, is now executive director of the Tucson-Southern Arizona Black Chamber of Commerce.
