Bee Off Ballot?

No, we’re not talking about Tim Bee, the state senator who is facing Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords in Congressional District 8. We’re talking about Keith Bee, Tim’s brother.

Keith served in the Legislature before Tim won his Senate seat in 2000. Last year, the Pima County Board of Supervisors appointed Keith to a Justice of the Peace post.

We know that Keith was facing a legal challenge and we’ve got unconfirmed reports that on Thursday, he was been booted off this year’s ballot on technical grounds. That would mean that his opponent, Wesley Robert Kent, would be running unopposed for the seat, barring a successful appeal by Bee.

Justices of the Peace are the judges in Pima County Justice Court, which handles minor legal matters–small claims court, marriages and the like.

More details as they come our way.
