About

Can Republican Senate President Tim Bee beat Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords? Can political gadfly John Kromko reverse a long losing streak at the ballot box to return to the state House of Representatives? Can Republican Al Melvin take out Pete Hershberger in the Legislative District 26 Senate race? Is Joe Sweeney really running for Congress again?

If you’re like most people, hearing those questions probably makes you wonder one thing: Who the hell are these people, and why do they keep sending me mail?

Don’t worry: Tucson Weekly is here to help.

As part of our ongoing experiments in Way-New Journalism, we’ve launched this election blog packed with expanded biographies of the candidates, breaking news from the campaign trail and links to all the Web sites you’ll need to follow this year’s races.

ScrambleWatch 08 will feature up-to-the-minute news, analysis and—of course—that juicy gossip about the campaigns. And through the magic of blogging, you can join the fray!

ScrambleWatch 08 is being produced by Tucson Weekly senior writer Jim Nintzel, Tucson Weekly staff writer Mari Herreras, TW interns Josh Garvey, Claire Engelken and Kate Saavedra, and UA journalism students Taylor Avey, Aleksa Brown, Veronica Cruz, Megan Neighbor, Hank Stephenson and Lindsey Turner. Graphic design is being handled by Hector Acuña of Studio M.

  1. This is a great idea. Thanks for doing it.

  2. I need recommendations for The Central AZ Water Committee candidates. The only name I know and support is Sharon Megdal. Also, what do you know about Mark Stegeman, who is running for TUSD board? Is he qualified? Would you recommend him over Judy Burns? Thank you. Margo Gray
